For over twelve years, Clock Tower Records has been a fixture of downtown Grass Valley. People of all tastes and genres come from far and wide to find records, CDs and tapes. Turntablists dig in the crates for that special beat. DJs and KVMR Community Radio hosts comb through the stacks for unique CDs and vinyls. Local bands use the upstairs rehearsal space for jams and practice sessions. Owner Jon Moser sells albums from local artists at no profit just to get their music out there, and he’s deeply connected to the local live music scene. Jon does so much to support arts and music in our community—this is our chance to help him!

About two months ago, the owner of the building that houses Clock Tower Records passed away and its new owners plan to sell the building by the end of this year. Jon has two options: raise $90,000 for a down payment to buy the building, or close the record shop. Plans are underway for a benefit concert to help raise some of this money, but donations of any amount will go a long way. Let’s get together and help Jon save Clock Tower Records!

Jon has kept Clock Tower Records alive and thriving through the pandemic, all the downtown construction, the loss of traffic from the highway 20 construction, and even last winter’s snowmageddon. He’s done all this by investing his personal savings into the store. Jon moved to Grass Valley with his partner, Elizabeth, to start a business together, those plans were abruptly cut short when she was diagnosed with cancer soon after the move. After her death, he felt hopeless—but he says that the opportunity to take ownership of Clock Tower Records saved him. He’s not going to let go of this shop without a fight. In order to buy the building, he needs a down payment in cash, now. Our community can help make that happen!
