Save Daxton: Urgent Surgery Needed

Daxton is in recovery! We had a couple of anonymous donors who helped fund the remaining needed for Dax to have the life-saving surgery he needed, and he is now recovering quietly in his foster home.

DAXTON was a dog who was on the euthanasia list at the shelter a couple of weeks ago. He had the sweetest disposition and the most outgoing, friendly personality.

But he also had a huge medical issue, which is what landed him on the euthanasia list.

Daxton has a dual perineal hernia, which essentially is the rectum and intestines pushing outside of the body. This is happening on not just one side of his rectum, but both sides. It makes it extremely difficult for him to defecate (poop) and is extremely painful.

After visits with two different specialists, we have finally been able to get a final cost estimate of about $5,000 to do the surgery. Obviously, a smaller rescue like ours, operating on a shoestring budget, does not have these kinds of funds available, and is why we've started this fundraiser to get Daxton the help that he needs.

If we wait much longer, tissue will begin to die, and we will no longer be able to medically correct it.

Daxton loves people, loves other animals, and is about the happiest dog you will ever meet, despite his painful current health status. He deserves a chance to have a normal life, as a normal dog, with a normal future.

Daxton is tentatively scheduled to have surgery Oct 2, IF we can raise the funds to do so!!
