Save Deebo and Rex

Hi my name is Butch Krishnamurti, and my fellow animal rescue partner Mandy Sperrey and I are raising funds so that two long-time street dogs, Deebo and Rex, can be saved and avoid euthanasia.

Many locals are familiar with the two beloved abandoned dogs Deebo and Rex who have been roaming midtown Savannah for the past few years. The situation was getting desperate to find Deebo and Rex a home - last week we learned that the authorities were fielding some complaints of loose dogs in the area and had no choice but to attempt to trap the dogs. The dogs would then be brought to the shelter, due to no foster or adopter in sight. The shelter is largely very full, so the risk of unadopted street dogs at the shelter getting euthanized would be high.

Though we had already tried unsuccessfully the past several weeks to find foster/adopters for Deebo and Rex, we attempted one last urgent plea. In response a couple, Jason and Rachel, stepped forward and volunteered to take Deebo and Rex into their care. The best news!

Jason and Rachel were not looking to add to their existing pack of rescue animals, but they fell in love with Deebo and Rex’s story and knew no other good options had surfaced to avoid the dogs going to the shelter and likely being euthanized. But having just bought a new house and getting ready to move out of state, having their first baby on the way, and already having several rescue animals, they were understandably not in a position financially to take on additional animals. At the same time they wanted to help save these dogs.

This GoFundMe is to provide funds to purchase several items required to care for Deebo and Rex including large pens, transport crates, and general pet supplies. Also, the fund will help cover vet care, such as initial exams, neuter, and vaccinations. Left over funds will be set aside and used for ongoing care for Deebo and Rex, to include future medical expenses.

Mandy and I will manage the fund and work closely with Jason and Rachel to ensure Deebo and Rex's needs are met. We are all grateful for any contributions to help Deebo and Rex.
