Save Duck Chang's Family Restaurant

Hi My name is Kinlon Chang and I am the grandson of Duck Man Ming who started our family restaurant "Duck Chang's" in Annandale, Virginia over 47 years ago. This restaurant has been in my families hands the entire time and it has been a source of great pride and joy for us to be able to serve the community my grandfathers food. Every person who comes in is greeted by my Grandmother, who still works here at 89 years old to preserve our family legacy and we all try to ensure that we live up to the experience standards that my grandfather set when he came to the United States with a dream. Our food, service, and longevity speaks for itself when talking about quality and care. Many of our long time customers have been coming since before I was born and we have watched families grow and prosper while enjoying our famous Peking Duck. In the midst of the COVID 19 Pandemic where many families were affected, we moved to carry out to ensure that we could continue to share our wonderful food, but now our family has met a roadblock that we cannot overcome alone. The shopping center beneath the floor where three generations of my family walked is being sold unless we can raise the funds to renovate our business for the new landlords. The day before Christmas Eve, a family friend alerted us that our unit was already for lease and had been for two months already even though our lease agreement does not end until August. When we reached out to the new landlords we were informed that unless we fully renovate the space they would not consider keeping our business as tenants come August 2022. 

We have managed to keep business afloat during these hard times and support those families that help make our business run, but this time next year the building that my grandfather walked into and made his legacy, the building where so many families have made their tradition to come for Christmas dinner, the building where wedding vows were exchanged and families came together, this building that has been mine and my families entire livelihood, will be no more if we cant come up with the funds to renovate. As members of our community, our friends, our family to yours, we humbly ask for your help.
