Save Elem - a baby boy cancer fighter .

Our baby boy is a cancer fighter.

Elem was born in February 2022. We were so happy that we decided to not tell anyone for a while. Happiness is fragile, and far too tender to display, happiness loves silence, I thought.

Then something happened that shook us, turned us upside down, made us cry, first secretly, in the corners, in the bathroom, then on each other's shoulder.

Elem was three months old, it was May and the diagnosis was already confirmed: retinoblastoma - cancer in the left eye. (Retinoblastom type D-E)

Cancer is that inner beast, which you don't know how to tame, you don't know how to deal with it. And children cancer is a special beast that roared in each of us.

There are always two ways - to go with the flow or try your best to resist the emotional flow, to look for what you can do here and now. Moldova did not give us chances. That's how I found the clinic in Lausanne, Switzerland. Such tumors are treated there, only with enormous money, to which neither the Moldovan state nor the insurance could contribute with anything.

In such moments, you feel abandoned, small, alone and humiliated. Very humiliated. And you start to breathe differently, in halves.

With our own savings and a few loans, Elem started the treatment.

During this half of the year, €100,000 was spent on medical services, not including transport, food, accommodation, more than 24 planes were taken, in exchange for cryo treatment and general and arterial chemotherapy.

I wouldn't have written this post, but we still have a year to go and no matter how stubborn we are that we will make it on our own, the speed at which this money are spent for medical care proves the opposite. We are working very hard in parallel and we really want to pay the medical services for 2023, but we really need your help, dear friends. We understand that these are complicated times, but if you can lend us a hand, we would greatly appreciate it.
