Save Ella's Eyesight

Ella will be legally blind without your help.
Ella is a vibrant, active, 8-year old girl who is an avid reader and does kind acts for others. After a recent accident on Ella's bike, her parents took Ella to an optometrist. Instead of a matter of a prescription for simple glasses as they had thought, Ella was sent to see an eye specialist.
The vision in Ella's left eye is worse than 20/100 (the doctor couldn't get a scale low enough to pinpoint the exact number). From birth, she trained her brain to not accept any input from her left eye, but to only use the information from her right eye. Currently, her right eye is 20/15. Ella needs intensive therapy at least 2 times a week for a minimum of 6 months. If her mother had not listened to her intuition to take her to the optometrist, Ella would have permanent blindness.
The Ophthalmology sessions, in conjunction with special eye glasses, will help her retrain her brain to accept input from her left eye and to overlay the image from her right eye. It will be an exhausting experience for Ella to begin the process of seeing clearly.
The prognosis for her is that, with this intensive therapy, in four years she may be able to see 20/20 from both eyes.
Without the expensive treatments she needs, she will be legally blind.
Ella's mother is a teacher at a local high school, and her husband is a professional landscaper. In the Bay Area, this means they are able to rent a house that is a one hour commute away from their jobs. Their insurance will not cover the cost of these treatments.
I am a close family friend, and I am setting up this account with the consent of the family. All of the funds will go directly to Ella's medical treatments and healing her eyesight. I have asked for funds to cover the amount for the treatments and glasses. This amount does not take into account the loss of work days for her parents to drive her an hour and back to keep her medical appointments. Anything over the amount would be used to offset these needs.
Anything you can give is one step closer to Ella keeping her eyesight. No amount is too small.
Truly, thank you for your generosity. This fund can be the difference between sight and darkness for this little girl. You make the difference.
