Hi there friends, my name is Austin Luckett and my wife Ireland Morse and I are helping fundraise for families in Gaza. This is Farah and her family. We hope you’ll take the time to read their story and be moved to help them as we have been.

Humanitarian Appeal: Between Life and Death... Save Farah and Her Family from the Flames of War in Gaza

Please forgive us if we take too long to tell our story. I am not one to ask for help, but I have exhausted everything I have trying to remain strong and endure.

Where do I begin the story of humanity and salvation? How can I even start, when the wounds are so deep? These wounds have left us with unbearable pain, a pain that feels heavier than mountains.

My name is Farah. I am 23 years old, my husband Ahmed is 26, and our son Bara is not yet one year old. We live in Abasan al-Kabira – al-Fukhari in Gaza. We once had a simple life filled with love and hope, and we even saved some money before the war, preparing for our future. But then the war came and destroyed everything. It left us facing a daily battle between life and death, between hope and despair.

It’s been a year since the war began, and Gaza has been completely devastated. There are no homes, no roads, no shops, and nothing to help us survive. That is why we have decided to leave, searching for safety and a better future.

We have escaped death three times and have been displaced from our home more than 13 times. Every day we wake up not knowing if we will live to see the night. Fear follows us everywhere, lurking in every corner where we seek refuge.

The first time, we were at home when missiles rained down on the house next door. We didn’t know what to do. It felt as though destruction was determined to swallow us whole. Miraculously, none of us were physically harmed, but our home stood as a witness to the pain, and our memories crumbled beneath the rubble.

The second time, we were hiding at our friends’ house in an area threatened by constant shelling. A missile landed on a nearby field, only 8 meters from the house. The entire house shook violently, and the windows and doors shattered above us. We felt death was closing in from all directions.

The last time was the most terrifying. We were ordered to evacuate due to relentless bombing. With no car, we walked 13 kilometers to reach the Mawasi area, hoping for safety. We walked with bullets whizzing around us, the sound of gunfire all around. Shells were falling on the roads, bodies lay in the streets, and people lay in shock and helplessness. I held our son Bara in my arms, feeling that death was closer to us than life. In that moment, I braced for the end. I thought our lives could end at any moment, and that our son might not live to celebrate his first birthday.

Imagine hearing about the deaths of your loved ones—your family, your friends—and feeling utterly powerless to help. Imagine feeling that death might be kinder than the continuous agony. Many times, we’ve wished we could all die together, so none of us would have to endure the grief of losing the others.

Today, we live with empty bodies. Our souls are shattered, broken. We’ve lost everything: our homes, our livelihoods, our lives, and most importantly, our sense of safety. All we want now is a chance to escape this hell, to start anew in a safe place, to rebuild our lives, and to see our son grow up far away from the sound of bombs and the smell of death.

From Pharmacist to Unemployed...

I once had big dreams and aspirations when I was a pharmacy student. I envisioned a bright future, full of achievements in serving the community and healthcare. But the harsh conditions and the war that ravaged my city forced me to stop working, and I had to give up my career.

Today, I find myself in a very difficult situation. I ask for your help to return to life, for your simple donations may be the lifeline I need to survive, if life remains. With your help, I can not only save myself but also save my family, my parents, my relatives, and all the people I care about.

My beautiful city, once a source of hope and optimism, has been turned into a ghost town by the occupation. I ask for your help in rebuilding my life and my family’s life, so that our city can once again be filled with life and hope.

From Graphic Designer to Unemployed...

My husband Ahmed was a graphic designer with big aspirations to develop his career in the field. But the war and destruction that hit our city forced him to stop working. Today, he finds himself unemployed and in need of a work environment outside of Gaza so that he can rebuild his career and help support our family.

We need a new opportunity, far from the devastation we live in daily. We hope that you can help us find a work environment that allows us to start a new life, filled with hope and hard work.
