3,000 Free Masks For Real Heroes by Flex Comics
Donation protected
We need your help to put 3,000 free masks in the hands of REAL HEROES. First responders and Essential workers are putting themselves in the frontline to keep us safe and our economy flowing. We began this initiative 20 days ago and realized how many of these real-life heroes are without ANY barrier at all.
We never sewed a day in our life but we got an old sewing machine, got some reclaimed laundered Flex Comics shirts, and went to work. We've been sending free masks daily since. We've gone from 12 a day to 25-30 a day in production. But it's not enough. The demand is higher than we can achieve given our current financial state from our 2020 Tour being canceled due to COVID-19. My grandmother always taught me ''when in need; give.'' So we've reallocated our original gofundme to saving Flex Comics into a campaign to save real heroes.
100% of the rest of this campaign will go to putting free masks into hero-hands. In order to meet all of our incoming requests for free masks we need to bump up our operation.
The funds will be used for:
Materials: Elastic (has skyrocketed in price), tread, fabric, needles, scissors, packaging, labels.
Shipping Costs: The cost to ship raw material to our sew warriors, them to ship it back, and then for us to ship the masks out to those in need.
Labor Costs: We have already donated over 100 dedicated hours of our time to this initiative, but the reality is most people do not work for free no matter the cause. We are taking over 2 weeks to get a hero a mask - they need them NOW. We need to hire Sew Warriors to increase our output from 12 a day to 100. We also need to hire someone to help coordinate the process from incoming requests to outgoing masks. The incoming requests are now overwhelming for us (down to 2 people) to manage along with trying to save Flex Comics.
Hardware: We've already broken 2 sew machines. We could really use a few commercial grade machines to speed up the process and mask quality.
If you or a loved one is in need of a free mask we have set up a request form at: www.maskrequest.com
Pay it forward with us,
-The Flex Family
