Save G(end)er Swap: Urgent Help to Financially Recover!

Hello, my name is Santi and I am the Founder and Managing Director of G(end)er Swap CIC and I am asking for your help to keep G(end)er Swap afloat after the company took a serious financial hit in the past couple of months and we need urgent help to recover.

G(end)er Swap is the first style outreach organisation in the UK that supports Trans+ people to access clothes, community and style resources. We deliver style workshops, pop-up events and create digital style resources to equip queer/trans people with the skills to assemble their own gender affirming wardrobe and to experiment with self expression. G(end)er Swap is immensely needed to support and uplift Trans people, not just in the UK - but internationally too.

We have been operating for five or more years and we are a very small team which includes my Co-Director, Oska, in South Wales and 3 other workshop facilitators.

We have supported over 500 transmasculine people with chest binders, run an important makeup support workshop scheme in prison to support incarcerated trans people, a free FB clothing page, produce 100's of online resources, events and initiatives to inspire people to explore all forms of self expression.

Recently, we took a financial hit to the company. There was some errors in filing our accounts properly by our accountant to which was out of our control, and to fix the issue we had to pay around £1500 for new accountancy services, a fine of £1500, and an additional £484, which we are struggling to gather the money for.

We are asking for money to support us in paying our fines, to recover our accountancy fees and to get our organisation's float back into the plus so we can really shape and expand the scope of our initiatives and the impact of our services and community events.

Our team is very small and we haven't had the capacity to apply for large pots of funding to help expand and shape our initiatives, our marketing materials or to financially support our team members for all the work that they do.

We are asking for help to get G(end)er Swap back into the plus so we can use the money to:

Pay back fines and loans so the company does not have to become insolvent

Pay for the design of new marketing materials: flyers, stickers, business cards, posters (we are out of everything!)

Pay for printing resources and marketing materials

Pay a Trans person to help with our social media part time (only I am managing this at the moment and it's not sustainable)

To put on more in person events FOR FREE for the people.

To buy event materials and to pay for travel to and from events.

Keep our subscriptions for platforms running: website, Canva, Zoom, Apple Storage, video editing/captioning apps, and to also be able to afford social media paid promotions.

To create merch and elevate our brand and awareness of our outreach work simultaneously

Any donations, even £1 would really help us. We never really run large fundraising campaigns because we want to make sure that we always have the appropriate funding to fuel our initiatives but unfortunately this has been an unlucky year!
