Save Gunjur Village Museum!

Donation protected
Gunjur Village Museum is a well known and well loved history, culture and nature museum situated in Gunjur, South Gambia
Built by hand by proprietor and guide Lamin Bojang, this museum has for several years given many vistors - from Gambia and from abroad - a fantastic experience visiting and learning about the cuture and nature of Gambia.

Sadly, last rainy season was very bad, the rains came down hard, and the museum building was badly affected, being built out of local mud blocks.

The building is falling down - part has fallen inside, and the outer walls are cracked and sagging. It will not survive another rainy season.

So the only thing to do is to pull the building down and rebuild. This is what Lamin will do, he will pull down the existing building, carefully safeguarding all the artifacts and exhibits, he will flatten the plot and build a brand new building, out of rain resistant concrete blocks.

He has made a start, but the museum has no money for the rebuild. The museum gets no external funding and has no support. So we need to fundraise to build the new museum building. Without this fundraising, the museum will not be able to continue, which would be a great loss to the local community and to Gambia.

PLEASE help, any donation is welcome, big or small.

Thank you very much. Abaraka baake.
