Save Hansel and Gretel: Urgent Parvo Treatment
Tax deductible
Last Sunday, an emergency call came into Creek View Vet Clinic, 3 very sick lab puppies had been found off of Rebecca Creek Drive, in Spring Branch. Sadly, by the time help arrived one of the puppies had already passed away.
Creekview's on call doctor rushed in to evaluate the two surving puppies. It was determined very quickly that these puppies were suffering from parvo - a deadly, highly contagious disease that is contracted when young dogs are not properly vaccinated. Left untreated, it is always fatal, and a very painful death at that.
Sadly, the finder did not have any sort of budget to treat two puppies with parvo as it can be very expensive and is terribly labor intensive. However, they certainly didn't want these puppies to suffer and they decided that euthanizing the puppies was the only way to end their suffering.
However, the vet on duty that day felt certain these puppies should be given a chance and reached out to the Director of the Huamne Society of the New Braunfels Area on Sunday afternoon to explain the situation - yes, they had parvo, but they were BAR - "bright, alert and responsive" and she really felt they had a good chance at recovery if we started aggressive treatment right away.
Our Director didn't hesitate - "Treat them, do whatever it takes. I'll figure out how to pay for it later."
So here we are, asking for your help. Aggressive parvo treatment and 5 days in intensive care is going to cost us about $2000. We need your help.
Hansel and Gretel will be here with us at HSNBA (unless we can find them a foster home) for another 2 weeks, to continue their treatment and monitor for any potential complications but they have bounced back beautifully so far and already are well on their way back to health. In about a month, they will be ready to be spayed and neutered and will be available for adoption.
If you can donate, please do. These beautiful souls are worth every penny. Any money raised over our goal will go directly to the next pet in need, whenever the call comes, we'll be ready.
