We are Huckle Bee Farm, a family-run operation based in Denison, Texas. Our farm offers honey and various agricultural services to the community.
Unfortunately, our rural farming neighborhood is now under threat: The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has approved a permit for a permanent concrete crusher plant, despite the objections voiced by over 500 residents, including experienced nurses, veterans, educators, elderly, disabled individuals, mayors, and state and local officials. Our farm is the closest home to the facility, located right across the street from their entrance.
Scientific studies definitively show the dangers posed by concrete crusher plants, including harm to human health and wildlife (links below). The dust and airborne particles generated can have serious consequences for our honey bees, local residents, and the environment.
Our community has tried to stop this project, but TCEQ has moved forward with approval, disregarding the significant health and environmental risks. The process is heavily stacked against us: Even when residents file motions to overturn the permit, TCEQ can legally ignore those motions, automatically denying them after 45 days of no response.
Our only recourse now is to challenge TCEQ’s permit in court. This legal battle is expected to last 1-2 years, costing up to $60,000 in legal fees. We are determined to stand up for our farm and our neighbors, but we need your help.
