The Idan-ha Theatre was built as a vaudeville house in 1924 with 355 seats.
The original Idan-ha sign was painted and lighted. It had numerous individual lights around it and a metal awning, that projected out over the sidewalk and was lit underneath.
The box office stood in front of the theater. The theater historically housed vaudeville shows and performers who came through the area.
Groups such as the Famsworth Players, Glen and Dora Taylor and the Glendora Ranch Gang all played there. Alongside live performances, the theater also played early silent films with a piano and orchestra pit.
Over the years as Entertainment changed, so did the theater. In the 70's it was later remodeled to bring in a projecter and a screen to play movies.
The theatre now has 185 seats and was bought on May 1,2015 by my parents Shane and Camille Petersen.
This was the place my family and I went to as I was Growing up.
When the theatre was verging on closing, my parents decided to buy the place in order to keep the magic that it held for my family and I alive.
They have kept the theater running despite the size of the town. It is the only indoor movie theater within 60 miles, and has been a crucial part of the community
Unfortunately in 2020 my parents have been stuggling due to Covid-19, as all small businesses have. On Thursday night an unforeseen event occurred.
The main waterpipe broke, causing water to leak into the building and causing major water damage. The theater could potentially close due to the cost of the repairs.
This streaming I'm doing for 12 hours is to try and raise money to help keep this historical landmark and my big part of my childhood open and alive.
