Save Indiana Township

Hi, my name is Emily Gouwens. My husband Matt and I have been battling Indiana Township for the last 5 years to try to prevent changes to the zoning code that would allow for irresponsible development plans to be crammed into our community. This fight has required numerous lawsuits and appeals. We have won in Commonwealth Court twice...with the court ruling that Indiana Townships approval of this development was not founded. When appealed to the Supreme Court, they too saw nothing to overrule the Commonwealth Court and our verdict stood.

Now, Ryan Homes has submitted another plan - a worse plan. They want to clear cut and grade ~22 acres between Fox Chapel Road and Dorseyville Road for a 3 story apartment building and 70 Townhomes. This development is just the tip of the spear....the full development they want is much more significant. It will remove hundreds of trees, acres of natural green space and meadows and disrupt all of the wildlife currently in this portion of the township.

Our Zoning code does not allow for this type of density development currently, so why won't Indiana Township say NO? Join us in holding them accountable to follow our zoning as well as its residents' wishes for retaining the green community that brought us all here.
