Save Jake's Landing
Donation protected
Thank you for supporting the Jacobson family with a donation to help them stay afloat while the US/Canada border is closed.
In June 2019, Lars & Wendy Jacobson and family purchased the businesses in Porthill, Idaho, including the Porthill Mercantile, Package Depot, Gas Stations, Restaurant, etc. The Mercantile has been a vital part of our small community in North Idaho for a very long time. They changed the name to Jake's Landing and things were progressing as they began to learn and operate their new businesses. This is a family owned and operated business.
Then in March 2020, COVID happened. The Canadian Border, of which Jake’s Landing is adjacent to was shutdown, they lost over 90% of their business overnight. Creston, British Columbia, is just a few miles away but now the good folks in the Creston Valley can’t come down to Jake’s Landing. People and businesses in Canada would have their packages shipped to the parcel depot at Jake's Landing. No longer are they allowed to come and pick up packages, buy some gas, and purchase a few things at the store. Jake's Landing is losing thousands of dollars every month.
In addition, the local water association is in dispute with some of its members; and Jake’s Landing is also in danger of losing their water during this trying time of the border being closed. They have now had to hire an attorney.
They need your help to: stay afloat while the border is closed, cover unexpected attorney costs, and if legal action fails - put in a well so they can stay in business. Anything you can contribute would be greatly appreciated to keep this family from losing everything and keep our little community alive. Thank you!
