Save King's Mini Mart

If you're a local or even a frequent traveler who needs a fix of true island Aloha, you are familiar with this last hidden gem on Nohonani Street in a quiet corner away from the mega-corporations on Kalakaua. Overcoming even the hardships of covid lockdown, King's Mini Mart withstood many disasters and has been a symbol of the hard-working locals who have been frequently visiting its store for the last 23 years. Behind this small business is a generous, kind, and diligent man, Mr. Lee, who often gives more than receives, and who is known to have a tally of IOUs of those who are down on their luck behind his counter. He greets you with a smile, often has small chats with you, and sends you off to go about your day to enjoy island Aloha or reciprocate that Aloha to others.
On the night of October 9th, 2023 at 2:00 AM, misfortune hit its store, as a neighboring dumpster caught on fire and hopped over to King's Mini Mart. By the time Mr. Lee arrived on the scene, much of his store was already consumed by the fire, and his inventory would be deemed a total loss. Though a small percentage will be covered by insurance, the items that were lost and the damage done to the property exceed any savings, and insurance payouts to cover the expenses.
Mr. Lee is still on the hook to pay for rent on the property, utility bills, removal of debris, and as well as living expenses until renovations take place which could be several months away. More than helping just Mr. Lee, we're imploring those who are willing to help save this last small business on Waikiki. We ask you to spread Aloha where Aloha is needed and allow King's Mini Mart to be the oasis of island love once again. Any amount is welcomed, but please spread the word and share this with family, friends, and anyone who would be willing to help. Mahalo for your kokua!
