Help Keep Little Alims Academy Open!

Islamic schools are a cornerstone of our communities - they help foster a strong sense of Muslim identity, teach values and morals, and help build connections, friendships and strengthen the bonds of our community. There are only a handful of Islamic schools that teach at the preschool level specifically in Georgia, and one of the only ones in our area is the beloved Little Alims Academy in Marietta. Over the years, this intimate school setting has graduated hundreds of little Muslim children, equipped with knowledge, skills and plenty of memories, inclusive of special occasions such as the Mini Hajj Activty, Eid Celebrations, Fall Feasts, Spring Festivals, Career Day and more. Families have come to love and appreciate what Little Alims provides - peace of mind with an Islamic environment, and their children having created lifelong friendships with fellow Muslims and love for their teachers as family. Word of mouth has built its strong reputation. Parents drive their children almost an hour each way in some instances, in order for them to attend this well-known institution. Families enroll all their children there and have even requested that a kindergarten curriculum be offered to extend their kids' tenure at LAA. Even families who have recently moved from out of state opt to attend after hearing rave reviews.

Unfortunately, however, COVID-19 has negatively impacted many small businesses, including Little Alims. At this time, approximately 5 children are enrolled at school, down from 34 in March of 2020. Costs of a small business continue, despite a pandemic, and include rent, payment for teachers, utilities and insurance. The school has applied for numerous grants, the PPP loan and more but has received little to date. As the months continue, the school has taken every creative measure to offer various virtual classes to families, but as we know, many families themselves have been negatively and financially impacted by the coronavirus as well. The school’s finances have run dry. It is becoming more and more difficult to sustain the school’s operations as we go into the 6th month of COVID-19 with extremely limited tuition coming in but rent still due. This is why we are turning to you, our larger community, for your kind support. The Atlanta area needs Little Alims Academy as part of the Muslim fabric. If we are unable to raise at least $12, 000 on behalf of Little Alims, the school will be forced to close its doors and will NOT survive the pandemic.  Please, PLEASE consider donating any amount to help keep Little Alims open and operating, for your children's generation and for generations to come.  Your donation will be greatly appreciated by the entire Little Alims family and mostly the children who have and will benefit from Little Alims' unique service - a solid islamic foundation, as well as multitudes of families in the future. The school has been there for all of us, and now we must be there for the school in whatever way possible. This is a short term request for assistance until the effects of the pandemic improve. But in the interim, we cannot bear to lose Little Alims as another fatality of the coronavirus! In the event that Little Alims must close its doors this year, any donations received will be put directly towards efforts to reopen in another location inshallah!
