Every year, thousands of dogs across the United States face a heartbreaking fate due to overcrowded shelters, underfunding, and misconceptions about breed or size. In 2023 alone, over 360,000 dogs were euthanized—many of them healthy and deserving of a second chance.
Introducing Ruff Life Rescue of South Carolina – a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to making a life-changing impact for both dogs and the communities they serve!
At Ruff Life Rescue, we are dedicated to changing that statistic. We believe every dog has the potential to not only survive but to thrive and bring hope, healing, and joy to those in need.
Our mission is twofold: to rescue dogs on the brink of being euthanized and to transform their lives—and the lives of those they touch—by training them as support and companion dogs for disabled veterans and children. Together, we can give these dogs a second chance at life while making an immeasurable difference in the lives of those they help.
The Journey So Far
Founded in California in 2021, Ruff Life Rescue has already rehomed over 80 dogs, giving them the love and security they deserve. After relocating to South Carolina, we aim to establish a new rescue and training facility in Greenville or a nearby city. This facility will allow us to house, rehabilitate, and train dogs in a safe and comfortable environment, ensuring they are well-prepared to assist disabled veterans and children.

The Future of Ruff Life Rescue
Our dream is big, and with your help, we can make it a reality. Our new facility will be designed to provide the highest standard of care for the dogs we rescue:
- Comfortable Living Spaces: Each dog will live in a kennel with clear, bar-free plexiglass walls, providing a stress-free, welcoming environment. They’ll sleep on custom-sized beds, starting their journey toward healing and transformation.
- Rehabilitation and Training Areas: From recovering from illness or surgery to learning the skills needed to become support dogs, our facility will cater to every stage of their journey.
- Professional Staff and Volunteers: We’ll have trained experts and dedicated volunteers to care for the dogs and guide them through their transition into service roles.
- Foster Care: While the facility will house 20–25 dogs, an additional 20–25 dogs will live in foster homes until they’re ready to be paired with their forever families.
- Perfect Pairing Program: An assessment team will work tirelessly to match each dog with the right veteran or child, ensuring their unique needs and personalities are perfectly aligned.
