Save Long Island Scuba

We are the Long Island Scuba Diving Community working to help Ralph Collis the owner of Long Island Scuba Dive Shop located in Lindenhurst, Long Island, New York.

History:

Ralph has been part of the Long Island dive community for decades. He began his career as a regulator technician at Diver’s Way Dive Shop in Bay Shore, New York.  He advanced to become the manager of the shop. In addition to his personal diving; Ralph made it possible for many other divers to enjoy their passion.

When Diver’s Way was ready to close its doors, Ralph decided to use his skill and training to open his own shop; Long Island Scuba on Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst, New York.  Ralph’s shop is a full-service dive shop offering regulator overhauls still done by Ralph personally, as well as all types of gas fills, tank service and a full selection of equipment for purchase. Ralph also has a team of dive instructors providing all levels of dive instruction in his pool located right at the shop.

Long Island Scuba is not just a full-service dive shop; Long Island Scuba is a home away from home for the Long Island divers to showcase their artifacts and to share their underwater adventures.  There are not many dive shops left on Long Island we can’t afford to lose another one.

Problem:

At this time, Ralph is experiencing a difficult time financially.  Winter is a slow time for a dive shop on Long Island. Expenses remain the same year round but income drops significantly in the cold weather.  A poor summer season last year followed by a bad winter has caused a drop in financial reserves.  The shop compressor needs repair and the pool is in desperate need of a new liner.  It cannot be patched any longer.  At this time Ralph is experiencing a critical financial situation.  Without assistance from the dive community, he will not be able to continue running Long Island Scuba.  Without the shop, we will lose a valuable place to service our equipment and fill our tanks.  We will lose one of the few pools available to the dive community.

How to Help:

You can help Ralph keep his shop open with a financial contribution.  This will help him to continue to service the Long Island dive community and recover from this financial setback. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to repair the pool and compressor and make Ralph financially secure to weather another Long Island winter.  Any donation will be greatly appreciated.  The Long Island dive community can stand strong together.  We all know that Ralph has been very generous, now it is time to return the favor.
