We are Make Noise Studios, and we are a community led organisation, that provides space for all kinds of music and its development.

The Reason for Fundraising -

We have recently been struck with the news that we need to move this year. This was unprecedented news

Operating an independent cultural institution such as this profitably is a real challenge. Although we found out around 18 months ago that an eviction was a possibility, it was not confirmed until last week, with only a couple of weeks to go.

We have been searching for a new space, and came agonisingly close to securing purchase of the former Salvation Army Church on Langsett Road.

We've had some sympathetic conversations with various officers in the council, but no help has been forthcoming. An urgent email to the council's new culture department about the eviction has been ignored.

We are trying everything we can to keep our services going, but there's now a realistic chance that this organisation will collapse. We don't want that to happen and we're actively looking for emergency solutions

We need your help to create a pool of funds for what is coming up ahead. All the help will be crucial to make sure we survive and can create a better space for everyone.

What is threatened? -

Our artists contribute an estimated £1 million to the UK's live music economy. Around 60-70 artists every week come to the studios to record, rehearse, and play at the venue. We attract around 13,000 visitors per year. We employ seven staff and provide work for a dozen or so regular freelancers. The space acts as a hangout for musicians - a melting pot in which synergy happens.
