MAP Studio Cafe has served as a cornerstone for the Kentish Town community for more than 30 years. Our cafe is a hub for parents and children of neighbouring schools, students, local workers and the community built through our events and recording studio. We are key organisers of the yearly Alma Street Fair, and our venue platforms local artists and hosts public and private events for all ages. Our studio has been active since 1990 and has nurtured talent from the community at affordable rates, as well as working with local initiatives to give free workshops to children in the area.

On Monday 20th March MAP was dealt a nearly fatal blow when our landlord repossessed the building. Our locks were changed and our lease, first signed by MAP’s owner Chris Townsend in 1986 was brought to an end. To get back into the building we have had to accept an increased rent, tens of thousands of pounds of lost revenue, and emptying all our financial reserves for bailiff costs and legal fees.

Although we have got back in the building, due to these events we're facing a fight to return to business as usual as money and resources have been exhausted trying to fix this situation. We truly need every person who has enjoyed our space over the years to reach out and support we can continue to be the unique and colourful place that is MAP.

To thank you all for your support we will be throwing an all day outdoor event on Sunday 9th July providing food and music from 12pm to 11pm, so please bring everyone and your aunt down to enjoy the day and further support! We don’t want to stop serving our Kentish Town community, so please help us to continue.
