Save Mountainair's Only Pharmacy: Support KC

My name is Maggi, and I’m writing this on behalf of Mountainair Meds and More.

Mountainair Meds and More is the only pharmacy in Mountainair and Torrance County. It is owned and run by a friend of mine, Kathleen West (known as KC.) I started this GoFundMe page on her behalf. She is my pharmacist and long time friend. She has been there since 1998, dispensing prescription drugs in a store that also has a working old-time soda fountain. Sadly, the business has recently fallen on hard times. It is at risk of closing, which would leave many people in the county without the medicines they need in an area that has already been designated as medically underserved. KC isn’t just a pharmacist; she serves the community by delivering the medicine to customers who don’t have transportation. If the pharmacy closes, some of her clients will be forced to rely on mail-order prescriptions, which is impractical for many drugs with short shelf lives or requiring refrigeration. Also, our town will lose a beloved landmark over 100 years old. KC and her supporters are working on securing grants to get Mountainair Meds and More back on its feet so it can remain a big part of our community for many more years. Meanwhile, I am asking for funds to pay down accumulated debt for the next few months, around $20,000. These funds will be electronically deposited in my bank account, and I will then write a check from the account and personally deliver it to Kathleen (KC).
