Accessible Gym Closing - We Need Your Help
Donation protected
***UPDATE - Sept 11/24
THANK YOU to everyone who has donated! We are so grateful to this wonderful community!
Neuromotion has taken over operations of MOVE gym as of August 1, 2024. The Board of Directors has decided that MOVE will not file for bankruptcy and therefore our fundraising goal has changed, as we no longer require funding for a bankruptcy trustee. The funds raised will go towards supporting MOVE's current and future members.

We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea to help MOVE’s programs and services continue, as they are a vital resource for individuals with physical, neurological, and cognitive challenges. Since 2013, MOVE has been dedicated to providing accessible and therapeutic exercise to empower the diverse needs of its community members. MOVE provides support to over 200 members, who have used MOVE’s programs and services over 1,100 times per month in 2023. MOVE also provides valuable hands-on experience to over 30 volunteers and university students.
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen financial hardships and the loss of charitable status, the MOVE gym, in its current form, will be permanently closing its doors on July 31. However, with the funds raised here, we hope that MOVE’s services can be continued in a new capacity. We are asking for your help so that MOVE’s mission can continue.
Running a facility like MOVE gym entails significant operational costs. The recent economic upheavals, exacerbated by the pandemic, rising expenses, and decreased funding, have placed them in a precarious financial situation.
In addition, through the negligence of a past board member, MOVE is in extreme debt to the CRA and their landlords. In early 2024, it was discovered that this negligence had also caused MOVE to lose its charitable status, which means MOVE is unable to obtain grant funding. This has had huge negative implications on the ability for MOVE to remain operational, as grant funding was one of MOVE’s primary sources of income.
Without immediate financial support, we are at risk of leaving MOVE members without the essential services they rely on for their physical and emotional well-being. Your support is crucial now more than ever. Please help us continue to provide life-changing programs to those who need them most.
"MOVE has been life saving, at the very least, life changing. It gives me a place to work on physical achievements. MOVE has provided me with purpose and also with a place for socializing and feeling a sense of belonging. Without MOVE I would be much worse off both physically and mentally. I feel focused coming to the gym and get a sense of accomplishment with my workouts. It's the highlight of my day!”

Your Impact
By contributing to this campaign, you are supporting a community of individuals who depend on these services to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. For many of MOVE’s clients, traditional gyms are not an option due to their unique needs. The tailored programs and adaptive equipment provide a crucial service that enables them to stay active, improve their mobility, and boost their mental health. The loss of a gym like MOVE, and the services it provides, would mean the loss of a safe space where they can work towards their fitness goals without fear of judgement or injury.
The impact of these services extends beyond physical health. Many of MOVE’s members find a sense of community and belonging at MOVE. The friendships and support networks they build are invaluable, helping to combat the isolation and depression that often accompany physical disabilities. Your support will help this community continue to thrive, offering a lifeline to those who need it most.
“What makes MOVE a one-of-a-kind facility is the personalized support I receive from the staff and volunteers, the adaptive equipment that allows me to do exercises I never thought possible with equipment in other fitness facilities, and finally the social aspects that allow me to develop friendships with other members who understand diverse challenges and continue to encourage one another.”
