Keep community music alive in Brixham!

What’s happened
The YES Brixham project, MusicAtTheEdge, has been a vital part of Brixham’s cultural community since 2007. Our free weekly music workshops, exciting live events and much-loved annual music festival created a safe and inclusive space where people of all ages and abilities were able to get together to learn, play and grow through music.
In March 2025 the charity YES Brixham sadly closed its doors, meaning MusicAtTheEdge could no longer continue. In response to this, the MusicAtTheEdge team founded a new independent Community Interest Company “The Music Factory CIC”. The Music Factory aims to deliver a program of workshops, gigs, festivals, volunteering opportunities and community partnerships designed to meet the needs of our community and continue MusicAtTheEdge’s legacy.
MusicAtTheEdge spent over 15 years buying, collecting and repairing a large collection of instruments and equipment which we made freely available to the musicians who came and made music with us. The Music Factory will be fundraising to rebuild this stock of instruments and transform community spaces into vibrant hubs of music and creativity. By inhabiting local venues, we can bring our workshops to more people, making music accessible in the spaces where communities already gather.
With your support, we can provide the instruments, equipment and welcoming spaces needed to keep the music alive.
The workshops we aim to provide:
- Drum Circle - (2 Hour Weekly Workshop)
- Community Band - (3 Hour Weekly Workshop)
- Youth Rock Band - (3 Hour Weekly Workshop)
These workshops create:
- Volunteering opportunities
- Community partnerships
- Cultural enrichment for the people of Brixham and Torbay
Your donation will help us pay for:
- Strings, sticks and all the little consumable items we need to keep people playing
- Musical instruments, printing facilities and amplification equipment
- Insurances & legal costs
- Hall rental costs
We are raising funds to cover the core non-salary costs of running our workshops for the next 12-months to allow our team time to secure long-term funding.
We estimate that it will cost £170 per week to run the workshops making our fundraising goal £8,840.
Why your support matters
Music is more than just a hobby. It’s a lifeline, a community and a space where creativity thrives. Without funding, we risk losing this project that has brought so many people together.
Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. If you love music, believe in the power of community, or have ever enjoyed a MusicAtTheEdge event then please support us today.
Let’s keep the music playing, together!
