Save My DATE/ Names Not Numbers was created to give them that chance.
Save My DATE/ Names Not Numbers is a handwritten memorial to honor those lost to Covid-19. Families and Friends create a personal and permanent tribute card to their departed loved ones by writing their Expressions of Grief.
Save My DATE/ Names Not Numbers is a tangible testimony to those who have been lost to the pandemic. The handwritten cards are available for viewing on our online gallery. When it is safe, the cards will be publicly displayed in panels, touring the country at memorial events. The panels will eventually be housed in a permanent installation in a museum turning the numbers into names for posterity.
This grassroots organization launched its pilot program in September throughout the U.S. and the U.K. with plans to go worldwide.
What makes Save My DATE/ Names Not Numbers unique is the personal touch that we provide to each recipient. Those joining the memorial receive a hand-assembled kit comprising the cards and pre-addressed stamped envelopes. This kit is free to those signing up for the card kit.
What can you do to help?
The cost to send each kit is $4, which includes supplies, printing, and postage. Funds raised will go towards these costs as well as participant outreach.
The $2,000 goal will provide 500 free cards. As we grow, we will heal more families and honor the over 400,000 souls that we as a nation have lost.
