“The North American Post is a community treasure. It captures the voices of our past and present and propels us toward our future as people who simply ‘love things Japanese.’” — Lori Matsukawa, retired news anchor
Small community newspapers like The North American Post (NAP) have been severely impacted by the pandemic. Until last year, its financial picture looked increasingly optimistic, but then the COVID pandemic hit; businesses curtailed their advertising or closed altogether and limited resources were available to draw upon.
Since 1902, NAP has been an integral focal point in the community. The paper continues to be an important advertising vehicle for local businesses, sponsors annual tours to Japan, helped establish the non-profit Hokubei Hochi Foundation digitally archiving historic newspaper articles , and has steadily increased its online website and social media presence. As it looks to its 120th anniversary in 2022, it must raise funds in order to survive and thrive.
Please join us! Help raise $50,000 to save The North American Post so that it can continue to be the vital connection to the community.
Sponsored by the Friends of The North American Post - Frank and Penny Fukui, Danielle Higa, Tom Ikeda, Elaine Ikoma Ko, Rev. Katsuya Kusunoki, Lori Matsukawa, Denise Moriguchi, Gail Nomura and Steve Sumida, The Honorable State Representative Sharon Tomiko Santos, Yuka Shimizu, Randy Tada, and Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience
