Recently we were made aware of the possibility that our building would be listed for sale - unsure if it was actually going to happen and how serious we needed to take it - we continued doing what we do, hosting all ages shows multiple days a week with local and national acts.
After weeks of discussion and things progressing on that front, we feel it’s time to formally announce that our building is in fact up for sale. What does this mean for New Brookland Tavern as a business?
Originally our owner, Mike Lyons (purchased NBT as a business in 2004), was presented with the first option to buy but the amount of work needed to restore this building to where it needs to be on top of purchasing it was just not realistic for us. Both AC units need replaced. Plumbing for bathrooms needs replaced. There is a mountain of things needing replaced. While the memories of New Brookland Tavern are invaluable - hosting thousands of bands over the years even before Mike purchased it - we have to prepare for the worst. This could be the last year that New Brookland Tavern is open in this building.
We are asking the community to help us raise money to either relocate to a new space, or potentially purchase the current building we are in - so that we can continue to serve the community in hosting live music for all ages, and providing a space for those that may not exactly fit in anywhere else.
If you cannot donate, there will be a series of fundraising shows, limited merch drops, etc along the way to help raise funds. We appreciate everyone who has stuck with us for the last 20 years, and that we can say that again in 20 more years.
