Be Our Hero: Save Nursing Home in Costa Rica from Closing!

Hello, I'm Denna, and I'm currently volunteering at Hogar de Ancianos San Francisco de Asís in Quepos, Costa Rica. This non-profit residential nursing home, which provides essential care to thirty-four elderly individuals, is undergoing a critical financial situation due to liquidity problems. The mission of Hogar de Ancianos is to offer adults aged 65 and above a roof over their heads and support their basic needs, all within an atmosphere of respect, protection, and comfort.

Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that these vulnerable patients lack the necessary support and resources to meet their basic needs. For many of them, their only family and support network are the bonds they've formed with fellow patients, staff, and volunteers within the facility. Without sufficient funding, they face the legitimate risk of being displaced to other facilities across the country, provided there are available spots.

The nursing home has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, and its ability to recover has been hampered by a decline in donations.
