On August 30th, my family and I rescued a German Shepard puppy who we named Odyn. He had not received any of his vaccinations from the previous owner, so we made sure to get this done on Monday. We noticed that he had been neglected because he was very skinny for a 9 week old puppy. On Sunday night, Odyn started with diarrhea and vomiting. This continued on to the next day. Odyn was refusing to eat anything and would not hold any food down. We had a vet see him on Monday that gave him a vitamin b complex shot and some antibiotics. This did not seem to help the puppy. Odyn continued to get worse. He became so weak so fast that he sometimes looked as if he were dead. We got scared and took him to a 24 hour animal hospital. Odyn was diagnosed with Parvo Virus that he had been exposed to before we got him. The vet gave us two options: have Odyn stay inpatient at the hospital for about 3-4 days to treat his symptoms OR try to treat some symptoms for that night. Due to financial reasons, we could not afford the estimated price of $4000-6000 to have Odyn be treated inpatient. Instead, we paid $400 to treat some symptoms that night. He received antibiotics and fluids. Odyn has not shown any progress. He continues to constantly vomit with episodes of diarrhea. He has become skinnier and weaker. We kindly ask for any help to get Odyn feeling better. The vet stated that inpatient treatment usually results in a 75-85% survival rate. Please help us give Odyn a chance at living as soon as possible. This virus can be deadly if not managed soon. Any help is appreciated.
