Save Olaf the Kitten

Meet Olaf the kitten.

Sleepy kitty :)

At just a few weeks old, he’s already had more trips to the vet than most cats do in their first few years. His owner, Marina, is one of the sweetest and most kind-hearted people in the world with a massive soft spot for animals. Unfortunately, Olaf's medical costs are climbing higher and higher with each trip to the vet.

Olaf's main issues lie with his excretory system. To put it frankly, the poor little guy can’t poop. He originally had a prolapsed rectum and was taken to the vet for treatment. He has had multiple enemas as just a tiny kitten and has had to be put under anesthesia each time because he is so small that the vets are unable to treat him otherwise. This is an unattainable and possibly dangerous practice for an animal so small!

So, vets have recommended Olaf have immediate emergency surgery in order to fix these problems. Ultimately he needs surgery to survive or the owners are looking at possibly being forced to euthanize this little guy. However, with this surgery, he has a high chance of surviving and continuing to live a normal life. The surgery alone is predicted to cost upwards of $3000, and considering the over $2000 his owners have already spent, they could really use your help. Olaf has a chance at a normal, happy life with an amazing pet owner if he can have these procedures done.

All funds raised here will go directly to Olaf's medical bills, primarily his surgery but also all the other costs that come along with it - consultations, medications, bandages, follow up appointments, and so on. The sooner we can raise the money the better, as every day without this surgery is a day of pain for both Olaf and his owner Marina. We would be so incredibly grateful for any donations to help out with these building costs in the midst of a pandemic. Any small amount helps!

Brothers Olaf and Gandolf.

As previously mentioned, Marina is one of the kindest and most empathetic people I know. My name is Hannah Davis and I have worked with Marina for two years now. If you ask any of our co-workers at the Damariscotta River Grill, they will tell you how lovely Marina is. She is humble, hard-working, and compassionate beyond belief. She has been an avid pet owner caring for fish to bearded dragons to snakes to cats. Her animals are cared for and loved so deeply. I know that if I ever had to give up a pet, Marina would be my first choice to care for it. That's why we decided to start this GoFundMe. It's awful to see such an amazing and selfless person struggling with the idea of possibly having to euthanize this kitten she has fallen in love with simply because of a financial barrier. Not to mention the pain and suffering that Olaf has known every day of his young life.

Donate if you can! Any amount helps, big or small. If you can't donate, please spread the word and share this GoFundMe.
