Save Omaid and his family from the Taliban!

My name is Matt, and Omaid, who lives in Afghanistan, was my co-teacher in India in 2019, where, through a USA-funded organization, we taught Afghan high school students English as part of an English and leadership camp. We developed a strong bond and mutual respect for each other and have kept in touch over the years. He is a man of integrity and honor and possesses strong family values along with an unmatched work ethic. It was a pleasure to work with him, and it has been a pleasure being not just his colleague but also his friend.

Right now, Afghanistan is in a state of turmoil - the Taliban has taken over and is a danger to the people of Afghanistan, especially those with a link to the USA. The Taliban is actively searching for people with links to the USA - including someone like Omaid and his family - and proceeding to investigate them and kill them. This Taliban presence has prompted Omaid to abandon his job, leaving him struggling to feed his family.

However, Omaid and his family have found an organization that will assist them with everything they need to escape the country - accommodations, flights, transportation, visas, and everything else EXCEPT (1) passports for Omaid and his family and (2) food expenses until expected evacuation in late October.

For the passports, they cost $50 each. He has a wife, three daughters, and two sons, so that would be 7 x $50 = $350. Roundtrip transportation to the capital city from his current location for the passports would be $70. For food, Omaid estimates it would cost $300/month to feed all of them. After MoneyGram and GoFundMe fees, the total comes to $1364.00

After he receives this money via MoneyGram, he will get the passports and then inform the organization who will then arrange to send him and his family to India or Qatar in October. They will live there for a period of time until they are moved to a third country, most likely the USA or Canada, where there are other organizations that can assist with finding accommodations, employment, and other necessities.

He and his family are incredibly unsafe right now in Afghanistan and have a legitimate fear for their lives, and they would be beyond appreciative if you could help them by contributing some money to help them pay for their passports and food expenses.
