WHO: The Omineca Arts Centre is an interdisciplinary, locally-led, artist/volunteer run centre that is grounded in arts-based community development www.ominecaartscentre.com  A safe space for creativity to flourish.

WHAT: In the face of a global pandemic, Omineca Arts Centre has perservered to continue facilitating collaboration and diversifing opportunities for emerging & professional visual, literary, musical, culinary and performing artists.

WHY:  To create space and opportunity for innovative, multidisciplinary, collaborative, and marginalized art forms within the Omineca region.

WHEN: The organization was initiated in 2016 by an emerging group of artists, curators, and community organizers in collaboration with Living Labs at Emily Carr University of Art + Design and Two Rivers Gallery following the Neighborhood Time Exchange project. Omineca continues to facilitate collaboration and diversify opportunities for emerging & professional visual, literary, musical and performing artists.

PROGRAMS:

AIR: Each month the centre features a local artist as OMINECA Artist in Residence. The artist spends the month in studio, and is available for distance visits and in person artist talks while visitors may view their exhibition. Or take in a free art workshop and don't miss the exhibition opening, in person and online live, recording to follow! Register for our newsletter on our website: www.ominecaartscentre.com

LOCALS LIVE: We're also operating a new program called "Locals Live" where we have been able to put on several live music shows in the centre and get music artists performing and paid again! This program began with a grant from the Prince George Community Foundation, but with your support we can continue this program long term!

KHAST'AN DRUMMERS: Omineca Arts Centre hosts and supports the Khast'an Drummers. A group of Lheidli T'enneh members and friends who have passion for the drum and the cycles of life it represents.

ART LIBRARY: Come hang out, grab a snack and a drink, an art book or magazine from our library and settle in (entrance & concession by donation). We also have art supplies in the closet for you to get crafty! Just ask.

OPEN STAGE: Want to try out an instrument? We have a drum kit, mic, keyboard, guitar and piano open for public use during open studio hours or by appointment.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS: Community Arts Council Studio 2880 & Arts North, Two Rivers Gallery, ColdSnap Music Festival, Downtown Prince George and Dak'et Shun Inle-Music in the Fall.

SALSA TUESDAYS: Drop in 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month 7-9 pm. Everyone welcome!

THIMBLEBERRY MAGAZINE: We host and support local art magazine, Thimbleberry, featuring "Arts & Culture in Northern BC. "

THE NEED: We are volunteer run and 100% dependent on fundraising, sponsor and grant dollars. But with pandemic restrictions, we are no longer able to host in person events, which were our bread and butter. All funds raised for the upcoming year will go towards the space and supporting local artists do their craft.

Benefits of Supporting Omineca:
To make this space accessible to our community for a variety of uses including exhibiting art and hosting space for multidisciplinary events and collaborations we need your support! As we work towards planning future events the Omineca Arts Centre is seeking financial contributions that will go towards supplies, maintenance, ongoing operational costs and most importantly compensating local artists for the presentation and exhibition of their work.

By sponsoring Omineca Arts Centre, you will show your investment to this community, helping us deliver innovative programs and exhibitions, and most importantly, support artists on a local and provincial level. We offer personal and corporate one time or annual sponsorship tier recognition. Any contribution is greatly appreciated!
