Save Our Alma Mater's Legacy

Dear La Reina Alumnae & Community,
Words are inadequate to express the profound heartbreak we have all experienced this year due to La Reina’s closure. This shocking news has shaken our community but also served as a reminder of the incredible strength, resilience and sisterhood of our La Reina alumnae.
The La Reina Alumnae Association will now be the stewards of La Reina’s legacy, dedicated to preserving the memories, sisterhood, and spirit of La Reina.
La Reina Family: this is our opportunity to come together and support our alma mater.
We have an incredibly short deadline. We only have until June 15th to collect and move all alumnae memorabilia from the campus into a new storage facility.
The school did not provide the Association with any budget for these costs, so we are asking for your support to help cover the following expenses:
1. Most Urgently: Preservation of Memorabilia: We are committed to collecting, moving, preserving and storing as much memorabilia as possible. Examples of items include class portraits, yearbooks, trophies, etc. Your support will help us to immediately retain a local storage facility that is climate controlled to protect our memorabilia from theft or damage.
These funds will go toward covering the cost of two years of storage ($8,500), movers ($2,000) and insurance ($1,000). The preservation fundraising goal is $11,500.
2. Reunion & Sisterhood: One of the greatest gifts La Reina gave us was our friendships. The Alumnae Association is eager to continue our traditions of class reunions, alumnae newsletters and mentorship programs. This initial goal will help secure our website, mass email platform and alumnae database. The reunion & sisterhood fundraising goal is $4,500.
3. Association Start-Up: Creation of a formal, independent, non-profit association to carry out the activities described above. The goal to cover the start-up costs is $2,500.
Your support is not only an investment in preserving our heritage but also a testament to the enduring bond we share as alumnae. Thank you on behalf of all of our Alumnae Association members for your unwavering commitment to our alma mater. Together, we can "love and cherish every memory and be worthy of the name we bear".

As one of the founding board members of La Reina Alumnae Association, Inc. (and pro-bono counsel to help establish the newly formed corporation through my law firm, Tamara L. Harper, A Professional Corporation) I am pleased to report that we have elected officers. As the newly elected Treasurer, I’m also pleased to report that our Articles of Incorporation have been filed, the IRS has issued our tax identification number, our Bylaws established, and our non-profit tax application is being completed and will be filed shortly. Most importantly, we have moved all alumnae memorabilia to secured and insured storage with the help of many volunteers and the financial support of many. Thank you!
Please visit our Alumnae Page to register as an alumnae and view our current board. We invite you to contact us if you are interested in helping. We have 7 volunteer hard working board members currently. Please also visit the upcoming events /reunions page Events and Reunions frequently as we will be updating such with more information. We will also shortly post pictures of moving day, storage, our alumnae memorabilia and LR volunteers actively engaged in the LR sisterhood spirit!
Yours In Sisterhood,
