SAVE our Child Contact Centre!

Hi, My name is Andrea and I am fundraising to raise money to help save our Children's Contact Centre in Bridgend.

The purpose of the centre is to provide a child centred facility where contact can take place with the child(ren) of separated families and the parent, siblings, grandparents or family members that they no longer live with or see. It provides a safe, non-judgemental environment and aims to help them develop and maintain a positive relationship without fear of conflict, reducing the risk of parental alienation. Currently, the Contact Centre opens every Saturday morning and Wednesday evening, offering fun activities to aid interaction and rebuild bonds. Since opening, the charity has supported 86 families, often referred by the court or by parents themselves, for a period of 3 weeks to 7+ years.

This centre is the only one in Bridgend for Charitable purposes and accredited by the National Association of Child Contact Centres. Its aims are to provide contact at a reasonable and where possible low cost and be easily accessible to children of separated parents who live in the area.

If the centre closes, then children will have to travel as far as Cardiff or Swansea which means extra travelling for the child and extra costs to the parents at an already very expensive and stressful time. This is unfair and there is a high risk that children could miss out on a relationship with the people they love and increase the chance of Parental Alienation.

We are totally self funded and these funds are now running drastically low. Funds are needed to provide the venue for contact, volunteer support and training and, valuable non-electronic resources to aid the interaction between the parent/family member and child.
