Save Our Chinatowns
Update 1/25/2021:
This campaign has ended. Please support our new Lunar New Year fundraiser for Oakland Chinatown businesses. Thank you everyone for your continuous support!
Update 9/18/2020:
This week, two Oakland Chinatown restaurants, Rang Dong and Huangcheng Noodle House, were destroyed by a dumpster fire. We are working with Good Good Eatz to direct all new donations from here on out towards these two businesses. If you would like to learn more about the incident, you can read the article here . Please share and donate if you have the capacity! Thank you so much.
Our Beloved SF and Oakland Chinatowns Need Help!
Since the very beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, SF and Oakland Chinatowns have seen a steep decline in business.
Racially-motivated fears have caused a lot of people to keep their distance from both Chinatowns. Restaurants have had to lay off staff members, cut working hours short, shut their doors completely, and ask for lowered rent. The decline in foot traffic for the restaurants are also hurting other local businesses in the area, such as tea shops and markets, that usually rely on these customers for business.
We are currently collecting funds to donate to the businesses in both Chinatowns that are financially suffering from the pandemic. We will be working with non-profits Chinatown CDC and Chinatown Improvement to help these businesses stay afloat. Please consider donating in order to save some of your favorite spots - ones that might’ve fed you while you were hungry and ones that brought you joy when you took a bite of that egg tart.
Who Am I?
My name is Jocelyn and I'm an artist currently based out of Oakland. I am Taiwanese-American and I spent the majority of my life growing up in Shanghai. The local Chinatown communities have a special place in my heart as they have always provided a slice of home for me. I deeply admire the resilience of Chinese and Asian American immigrants who have created a home and a living for themselves here and I hope I can help some of them sustain their businesses and livelihoods.
Thank You
