Save Our Eagle Rock Hillside
Donation protected
Save Our Eagle Rock Hillside exists to ensure the character and quality of life in historic Eagle Rock by protecting the area’s last hillside open space from residentialal development. We endeavor to see this land protected into perpetuity for the benefit of neighbors, nearby residents and future generaons in this area; as well as for the protected live oaks, sumac, coyotes, hawks, and owls that reside within its wildlife corridor. This seven-acre watershed and indigenous Tongva-Tataviam landscape should be preserved as a shared community resource that promotes public health, biodiversity and urban heat reductionon in what is largely a high density, multi-cultural, and park-poor area.
We are a coalitionon of committed community members working with elected officials and other stakeholders to bring about the purchase of this land for the public commons and ensure that it is not lost to overdevelopment. A developer wants to put in a subdivision to include 14 prefabricated, modular, multi-story homes on a small 4.3 acre parcel. To accomplish this he has applied to the City of Los Angeles for a Zoning Change and to cut down approximately 29 city/state protected Live Oak Trees. We are trying to raise money for yard signs and flyers to distribute to our communities.
