We may soon lose our precious Research Base on James Street

With rising prices on energy and rent, together with consumer inflation hitting all our costs right down to the free refreshments we offer to our many visitors, we need your help to keep us going in our amazing pandora's box of a research base.

We at York Family History Society have been helping families since 1975 to trace those elusive ancestors and break down those brick walls in your search for past lives to create a story of a family through the centuries.

We are based at the Raylor Centre in York and it has become an amazing place to visit - with photographs, maps, diaries, family parish registers and books on the widest range of family history topics and places.

Above all its got its volunteer genealogists to support you. Online is okay but it's often filled with errors that lead you down the wrong path. We help you to find your way successfully down the generations.
