SAVE OUR HOWARD
Donation protected
Hi,
Howard has always been an active, fun-loving dog who lives for his people, squeaks and days at the gym. He loves and cherishes his unofficial designation as the OPTI mascot and resident gym dog. Sadly, as many of you already know, this past weekend on Sunday, February 19, 2023, our beloved dog, Howard, suddenly and inexplicably lost use of both his front and hind legs. His condition came on quickly, and he became all but completely paralyzed and was immediately admitted to the ER for evaluation.
After an extended stay in the ER, which included just about every diagnostic test imaginable, we do not yet have a clear diagnosis and a clear path forward. He remains stable and breathing on his own but still cannot use his legs to stand or move. This experience has been a devastating blow for both Howard and our family but we are determined to do everything in our power to help Howard recover and regain his mobility so he can get back to living his best life (and reclaim his resident gym dog title!).
We believe that he can make a full recovery with the right care, support and rehabilitation. However, the cost of his treatment is substantial and has already put a significant strain on our family's finances. As of Friday, February 24th, the costs exceed even the original goal of this campaign.
That's why we're asking for your help. We have set up this GoFundMe page to raise funds to cover Howard's ongoing medical expenses (in addition to having spent 3 nights in the ICU, he has undergone an MRI, X-Ray, ultrasound and spinal tap, among other blood tests), rehabilitation, and any additional care that he may need. We are determined to give Howard the best chance at recovery, but we cannot do it alone.
Any donation, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. Even sharing this with family, friends, businesses, organizations, affiliations or general pet lovers, is more than appreciated. Your contribution will help us provide Howard with the costly care and treatment he needs to get back on his feet and live the happy and active life he deserves.
Thank you for taking the time to read Howard's story and for your support.
