Save our lives, give them Hope - GAZA

Donation protected
Hello, This is Fatima Yaser. I live in the Netherlands and I'm creating this campaign on behalf of my dear friend Mohammed. Mohammed and his family, including his two young sons, are currently trapped at the Rafah border. They face starvation, threats of disease and continued military violence.

With no end to the violence and intentional starvation of Gazans in sight, and Mohammed's wife Rewaa needs an urgent gallbladder removal surgery, WE NEED TO ACT FAST. We need enough funds to secure him, his wife Rewaa, their two beautiful sons Omar & Sanad, his sister Faten, and his mother Samah a safe passage out of Gaza.

I believe in humanity, I believe we can do this, we can give those kids hope for the future.

The following is a message written by Mohammed:

My name is Mohammed, before this war started, I was part of a beautiful and healthy family. Me and my wife Rewaa have two little amazing and wonderful boys; Omar, who is 4 years old and Sanad who is 2. Everything I do in life and everything I am is for them.
Then this war fell upon us without warning and brought death and destruction to our lives. I am trying to raise funds to allow us to escape Gaza and save them and what is remaining of my family. Mostly, I want to try and save the innocence and the smile of my two little guys, to shield them from as much damage from this war as I can.
Before the war, I worked remotely as a software engineer, I loved my job (and still do). The infrastructure in Gaza has been destroyed to the point that it is not possible to work. Basic needs, such as water, food, electricity, and internet are not reliable and often we have to spend a lot of effort to get them. This makes the situation worse, because I have to spend all day on acquiring these basic necessities and I no longer have the ability to work and provide for my family. Ever since this war started, we have been struggling to find nutritious and healthy food for them. It pains me that my two little guys go hungry for days on end.
My sister Faten has been living with us since her home was destroyed by shelling. Her 3 beautiful children were playing with toys when that happened. They were all killed (may they rest in peace). Both she and her husband were injured; her husband was medically evacuated to Egypt.
We are also looking after my mother, Samah, who suffers from chronic diseases. Here where there is hardly any access to food and water, you can imagine how limited medication is. We have been displaced twice, we had to run for our lives under shelling and bullets and falling buildings. We faced death many times.

I was very hesitant to start this campaign. However, with the ongoing threats we have no choice but to cross the border for safety and to search for the basic means of sustaining life. In total, we are 6 people. Me and my wife and our two kids. And my injured sister and sick mother.

In all honesty we can not do this alone. We need to raise $50,000 for each of us to cover the fees required to cross the border to safety. I really appreciate you reading this. It is hard for me to share and harder for me to ask for help. I never imagined in my life that I would be in a situation like this. To describe it as a nightmare would be an understatement.

However, we have hope that things will get better. Until then, we have to survive and try to find a safe place for us to live.

Here is the breakdown of Funds:
  • Permits and Crossing Fees ($30,000 ≈ €28,000): This covers the permits required to leave Gaza and the crossing fees at the Egypt-Gaza border for myself, Rewaa, our sons, my mother, and my sister (the fees are $5,000 per adult and $2,500 per child). As well as fees to get passports and paperwork for all of us (we have never left Gaza).
  • Immediate Support ($3,000 ≈ €2,800): This will provide for our basic needs such as accommodation, food, and essentials during our initial transition in Egypt.
  • Living Costs in Cairo ($8,400 ≈ €7,800): This includes minimum living expenses for six months ($1,400 per month), personal effects ($900), and international health insurance ($500).
  • Urgent Surgery ($3,000 ≈ €2,800): This will cover the cost of a gallbladder removal surgery and medications for Rewaa.
  • New Laptop ($2,500≈ €2,300): This is necessary for me to resume work so I can support my family once we've settled in Egypt. We were displaced in a rush from our home and I could not pack my laptop since it was not essential.
  • GoFundMe Fees (Approximately $1,400): To cover GoFundMe's Transaction fees. The transaction fee (2.9%+$0.30 per donation).
