Save our neighborhood cafe
Donation protected
As we all saw yesterday, our community members Cheryl and Travis have had a heart breaking decision to make.
The Wooden Nickel has been a fixture in our community for many years. They not only are a great place to enjoy a meal but their takeaway meals have been a lifesaver for the seniors in our community.
The Wooden Nickel has been one of our town’s favourite places for 34 years, since Cheryl and Travis became owners they’ve helped out at Christmas time for those that had no one, they helped during the fires, facilitated fundraisers for others in our community and have generously fed those who have gone without and now they need our help.
Any donations will go towards upgrading the broken equipment and helping the family keep the doors open for all of us to enjoy.
Please see their post from April 6th below;
“It comes with great sadness that the Wooden Nickel will be shutting its doors. Unfortunately we can't afford to keep the lights on...literally. The restaurant industry has taken a huge hit with rising costs and with us being new owners and having some challenges right off the hop with broken equipment as well as other challenges we just can't catch up. I am so sorry to the community as I know how much this place not only means to me but to all of you as well. This shut down could be any day so please come get your breakfast one more time before it happens. ”
