March 14, 2020, Subconscious Cafe hosted a dinner for family and friends in preparation for our Grand Opening on March 17th…. Then, things changed for EVERYONE!
We were forced to close our doors due the Coronavirus and never really were able to open. Our staff hung with us, and we remained closed for 7 weeks. We paid our staff for these 7 weeks, although closed. We were all hoping that the PPP and EDIL loan programs would see us thru this. Then after 6 weeks we learned we did not qualify because we where not open prior to January 31st, 2020.
Then I had to break the news to my staff that we would not be able to reopen the doors due to the lack of funding. (I was almost out of money). We all decided to just reopen and do the best we could. We won't lose it without a fight.
My staff is great, for 3 weeks they have been working 7 days a weeks, long hours, for very little, as we try to make the last of our money to get thru this. Now, here we are. We are getting orders, some days better than other, some days no orders at all. By the numbers, we can hold out for a week or two more before I can no longer pay them, or anything for that matter.
So here we are, asking for help, anything to help us save our place, our jobs, our lives and families.
