Save our Sighthound rescue, Lurcher SOS

Hi, My name is Lynn and I am asking for your help to save our rescue Lurcher SOS.

Lurcher SOS is a Surrey, UK based Lurcher, Greyhound, Saluki, Whippet, and all other Sighthounds Rescue. Now in our 13th year, Lurcher SOS was started in 2010 by two lifelong Lurcher owners.

During this period, 920 dogs have been successfully homed and we currently have 14 in Foster waiting for their furever home.

We are a non-profit organisation and receive no funding apart from what our volunteers provide through Donations, Auctions and Street collections.

We have a network of supporters, fundraisers and foster homes in Kent, Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey, Essex, Derbyshire, and Hertfordshire, but we home our dogs throughout England, Wales, and Scotland.

We are all volunteers, and our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and home, abused, abandoned and neglected Sighthounds across the UK, and we are also proud to say we have helped home Cypriot, Romanian, Egyptian and Spanish Sighthounds! We work alongside many other rescues to bring these dogs over to the UK.

None of our dogs go into kennels, they are all fostered within a home environment until a permanent home is found for them.

Our Founders property, which is the Headquarters for Lurcher SOS has recently had some major issues with the building. The septic tank needs replacing and there have been 4 burst pipes during 2022, which have affected the electrics. Estimates for this work come in around £15,000, funds we simply don’t have. Even with our own fund raising it would take so long to raise this amount of money, and we, especially the hounds, do not have the luxury of time.

We are asking for your help, any help you can give no matter how large or small. Every donation is gratefully received. Please also do share this amongst your friends, families and any contacts you have. We are in a state of crisis and it is the hounds that will ultimately suffer. If we cannot keep going, we cannot rescue these neglected dogs and are already having to turn dogs away. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading.
