Save our VFW Post

The Woodside/Sunnyside VFW is on the verge of closing its doors. We are hoping that all members, past and present, their families and friends, as well as the community at large, will contribute. John V. Daniels VFW Post #2813 was founded in 1933 and has been serving the community and veterans ever since.  VFW Service Officers advise veterans about their eligibility for VA benefits, both members and non-members. The Post also supports veterans in need and certain charitable organizations in the Woodside/Sunnyside area, such as two local food banks (in partnership with Kiwanis), the Sunnyside Drum and Bugle Corps, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. We have partnered with the 340th MP Co., stationed at Ft. Totten, opening our Post for their Deployment Ceremonies. The Post hosts an annual Fourth of July party and participates in the annual Flag Day Parade, on Greenpoint Avenue. It also hosts monthly Trivia Nights, Family Feud Nights and Karaoke Nights as fundraisers, open to the public. As a result, the Post contributed $3,000 to hurricane relief.
Now, we are asking for help, so we can continue to offer these services and remain an asset to the community. Every dollar contributed will go toward keeping the John V. Daniels VFW Post open. We ask all friends of the Post to join us in this effort.
