Save Phillip the Truck

Donation protected
This is a humble request to help extend the life of my trusty old pickup, Phillip the truck. I bought him in 1992 in Kentucky when it was time to start a new life in Oregon. I filled him up with my bike, drawing table, fishing rod, skis and camping gear; everything I needed to start over. Phillip has been with me through it all.

I believe in sustainable life rather than disposable; repairing instead of replacing. This old Toyota was made to be reliable and I've proven that out. Driving around on this beautiful earth leaves a carbon footprint, but in the last 27 years with Phillip I haven't turned tons of metal into junk. But we have replaced a lot of parts. And several are quite new, so Phillip has a future if my faithful mechanic puts the engine back in order. I hope to make him whole again and put him back on the road like he was last week, rolling down the Rogue Valley.

Leading the life of an artist is like a feast or a famine, and it's been pretty lean. So I was expecting some more debt when I planned a flight to Wisconsin to see my ailing mom and give my sister a break from the home care. And then the truck engine overheated. The estimate is nearly $2,000, maybe more when they open it up further. So it's pretty overwhelming. How do I do both with the little I have?

I also believe in the kindness of people who would read about this common sort of problem. Anything would help. You would have my enthusiastic gratitude.
