‍♀️Save Phoenix Gymnastics of Sandy Springs

Sandy Springs Gymnastics is located at the Hammond Park Gymnasium in Sandy Springs, GA. The gym is operated privately by Phoenix Gymnastics LLC. We aim to offer affordable and accessible gymnastics to a community that includes kids from all backgrounds, a staff that is compassionate and welcoming to families, and a youth program that is centered around what is best for kids. Currently, we are in a very distressed situation. On top of the economy and striving to recover from the pandemic, our gym might have to close its doors. With your help, we can come back strong and help keep Phoenix Gymnastics here in Sandy Springs where it belongs.

Hello Community,

My name is Gina White, I’m 34 years old, and I’m the mother of an amazing 4-year-old. I am also the proud black owner of Phoenix Gymnastics which is located in the Hammond Park Rec Center in the city of Sandy Springs. I have coached preschool, recreational and competitive teams in area gyms for the past 10 years. I also worked as a Team Director for a competitive program for 3 years. I am USA Gymnastics certified Professional and was a gymnast for 13 years. I’ve competed to level 10 but because of a knee injury, chose to attend an HBCU (Bachelor's degree in Biology) instead of competing in college.

In 2019, I was awarded a contract to take over a gymnastics program in Sandy Springs. I was made aware the takeover of this program had evident obstacles ahead. However, I am not one to back down from a challenge therefore I signed the contract and was fully committed. No one could have foreseen what was coming next. Within the first six months of business, I was presented with a shutdown of restrooms and a port-a-potty situation in the middle of the winter. Even with this obstacle, we were still vibrant and functional. We saw a huge jump in enrollments with just over 300 registered students going into 2020. But just as the bathrooms were completed, we were struck with a pandemic that followed with a 7-month shutdown, from there the depletion of staff, the unexpected inflation, and an overall unpredictable economy ever since.

But with that I have created relationships with Sandy Springs High Schools to train and hire students. Helping to fill our worker gap while also supporting the youth in the community.
