Torontos most well known BarberShop is owned by a 10th generation Indigenous Black Canadian from the Preston Township in Nova Scotia , Popz is known for not only being a Celebrity Barber to Torontos most elite clientele, but he is also known as a Gemini Award winning Actor for the Role of his character D.V.S. for his reoccurring role on canada's top comedy TV series Trailer Park boys.......
Popz decided to leave the show in season six to persue a more serious acting career and landed his first major speaking role in a feature film called Poor Boys Game staring Danny Glover and after the success of this movie he moved to Toronto to persue bigger dreams.
Since his big move to Toronto 13 years ago or more from Nova Scotia he has become one of the most important pillers in the Black business community because of all the different ways he has given back to the youth.
The difference between Popz and every other Barber in Toronto is that his passion has always been to uplift the underserved Black community across the entire GTA .......and in his home community called the Preston Township.
He was the first Barber to start the concept of pop up BarberShops across Canada and atracting the attention of corparate sponsorship from company's such as footlocker, foot action, champs, house of hoops, Vans, Adidas, Nike, Jordan Brand, redbull, new Ballance and many more to do initiatives across the city at over 30 footlocker locations in every major mall or sports store giving youth free hair cuts for summer camps ,back to school programs and March break camps , caribana etc....
Popz has also made his name and Brand known across the city of Toronto and across the Country for being the host of Torontos Top Basketball tournaments for all ages such as the Esplanades legendary 3x3 Plus the Black top classic, Hardwood classic,Redbull Reign world championship and national championships and provincial championships and he even has earned the title as the "Voice of Redbull" because his incredibly energetic ways of hosting live events of every kind and has also gained the respect as one of Canada's top Hosts of special events, from all of the top Basketball organizations in the country that promote youth development and mentoring programs and speaking ingagements with power houses like Maple Leaf sports and entertainment, Tangerine hoops,George Brown college, Toronto Raptors,Tiff just too name a few ....
Popz has also hosted his own nationally televised tv series on The Score called ........
The Shop........staring Popz featuring celebrity guests and regular clients getting cuts etc.
Popz has proven himself as a leader and a positive role model in many local communitys now he needs your support to save his BarberShop from closing down because of the strick pandemic restrictions plus the Lockdown that has forced him to close his doors.
This is his one last attempt to try and save his incredibly successful Business that he has worked his hole life to achieve.
The government has shown no urgency in providing assistance to small business owners with the CERS program , the small business Grants, Ceba program etc..... I qualify for all of thease but yet no help and no support from landlords as well.
If I can Raise thease funds from the community that I love and have supported over the past 15 years plus ....... Then I can keep my BarberShop open or make plans to relocate and start a new Chapter ......
I realized I can't depend on the government to help me so I pray that this will allow me to tap into all of my resources that have asked for my services over the past decade plus .......
I think I should also mention that Pops is also a Juno Nominated Hip-Hop Artist who has been blessed with the opportunity to be the opening act for the Queen of Hiphop Mrs Lauryn Hill multiple times including his performance at the Legendary Massy Hall....
Popz is much more then just a Barber and Business Man and his track record proves it..... please support one of Torontos Hidden Gold mines ................POPZ BARBERSHOP

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL
There are four community centres in Esplanade; the official one (St Lawrence Community Centre where I worked-out and ran pre #pandemic), and three others (Bellisimos Pizzaria at Esplanade & Fredrick, The McDonalds at Front & George, and Popz’ Barber Shop on Fredrick between King & Front).
I met Popz (@popzfromthebarbershop) in 2012 when he still cut at Onyx Barbers. I was looking for a barber who had a beard because bearded barbers understand how to shape a beard best. Before 2012 I cut my own hair but when I got back from #SouthAfrica I decided no more hoodies, non-profits, or self-haircuts. Popz became my go-to barber.
Popz lives in Esplanade down the street from my place. We share a love of music, politics, and strategy. He speaks to all the young people and parents in the neighbourhood and hosted the ball tournaments in the neighbourhood annually. He’s a proud Scotian who loves his community down home.
As long as I’ve known Popz he visualized his own shop. He looked for places in the area, described his vision, and wrote budgets. When he finally found a spot (three blocks from both my building and his) he walked me through the space as he was finishing it. It was his dream. When the shop opened, I was one of the first to sit in his chair.
Every Saturday I booked the 11am slot. We’d talk music, politics, and watch nature docs on the flatscreen that hung over the barber’s chairs in the storefront overlooking Frederick Street as hair fell to the floor. He introduced me to everyone who walked through the door, sold my father’s book at the counter, and engaged me in hundreds of loud conversations with his other clients. He told me that he was going to have a daughter while I sat in that chair, he would name her Assata. These photos were taken by Gillian Mapp (@gllnmpp) at the shop.
The first lockdown forced the shop to shut for months, the second lock down forced Popz out of #business; he decided not to renew the lease.
Many first-time business owners and small businesses haven’t made it through the pandemic. I walk around downtown #Toronto and see the boarded and papered windows. I know Popz will find his footing, but I’ll miss the chair looking out on Frederick Street.

If you know me you know I am a Man that thinks outside box , maby 15 years ago I came up with this idea to turn a 30 foot Mobil home into a Mobil BarberShop for the summer and I showed up at all the basketball tournaments , Family reunions ,block party's, wedding partys, Cultural festivals , sporting events, parades etc..... It was incredible but short lived ...... Now 15 years later I plan too change the Barbering industry once again with my new incredible way to bring luxery services and Hair cuts to your doorstep or your driveway or your special events of all kinds courtesy of Popz BarberShop. .... This pandemic has changed our world so we as Barber's and entrepreneurs must find a way too rebrand and reinvest into our businesses and our communitys to create new opportunities of economic development.
I have the dopest BarberShop in the country and the sickest shop in the Six already with two of the dopest Barber's in the country ... Now I am looking to add more Barber's to the team to take over the country and create an amazing community of Top Barbers.
We have learned from covid 19 that we only have ourselves to help each other get back on our feet and reopen our BarberShops and other small businesses, but in order for us to come together we need an experienced Leader.
Popz has proven him self on every level of Leadership to my peers in the Acting industry with my Gemini Award from Trailer Park Boys ,to my Juno nomination as a Hip-Hop artist plus touring with Lauryn Hill as her opening act and of course as a business owner and Canada's top Celebrity Barber ...... If you are a Barber trying to build your brand ,build your clientele, level up from all aspects of the Game.
Hit me up for an opportunity to do pop up Barbershops all over the country in different city's.
