Royal Vista Golf Course

We are a grassroots community movement working to save our open space zone.

A real estate development LLC has purchased portions of the Royal Vista Golf Course for $11 million in April 2021, and has submitted plans to the LA County Regional Planning Commission for 250 single family units and 72 condominiums on 75 acres, currently zoned as open space. Other parcels of the golf course are in escrow.

Royal Vista is located in Rowland Heights, an unincorporated area under the jurisdiction of LA County. The thriving and vibrant 27-hole golf course has been enjoyed by golfers from Southern California for over 58 years, as well as a clubhouse used by the community to gather for celebrations. Residents enjoy the vast open space and can be frequently seen taking evening strolls around the green open space. The golf course also serves as a habitat, sheltering possums, raccoons, skunks, coyotes, cottontail rabbits, foxes, Great Horned Owls, and Barn Owls. During the migration period, Canadian Geese rest in trees and Barn Swallows construct mud nests under adjacent homes’ eaves, using water from the 3 blue line streams flowing through the natural environment. The Puente Hills Significant Ecological Area (SEA), a natural physical link between the Santa Ana Mountains and the San Gabriel River, is 1.2 miles south of Royal Vista, which serves as a wildlife corridor to Puente Hills SEA.

Save Royal Vista exists to ensure the zoning remains as open space, the last sizable undeveloped area in Rowland Heights, serving our community as a recreational facility and preserving the wildlife that resides in the natural habitat. We want to see the land protected from development, for the benefit of residents, flora & fauna, nearby communities and future generations. Once it is gone, it is gone forever. Our vision, if it cannot remain a golf course, is to work with conservation organizations to purchase the land in perpetuity for the public.

Your donation to our grassroots campaign will fund attorney and legal fees associated with defending our zoned open space, designated in the Rowland Heights Community Plan. Your support will also help raise awareness in our community, funding yard signs, banners, printing costs and local digital marketing.
