Save Rude Boy Cookies: Help Us Relocate

Hi Everyone — it’s Mike Silva from Rude Boy Cookies. I'm here because, quite frankly, I don’t know what else to do. Many of you know us and have supported us ever since we started RBC, and I am so grateful. But what you might not know is how difficult the last two years have been for all of us at the cookie shop.

When we moved to our 1916 Central Avenue location near UNM, we were so excited to be on Route 66. But unfortunately, since then, we have faced struggle after struggle. In the past two years, we have been robbed at gunpoint, had our copper wiring stolen, and had our front door glass busted out four times. The most recent incidents (yes, plural) happened since June. We were out of water for several days because someone vandalized the water main to our building — we couldn’t operate or make cookies at all. Then, on June 11th, once again someone shattered the glass in four of our doors. These incidents have cost into the ten thousands of dollars, jeopardized our employees’ safety, and hurt the business. I have tried to adapt and make it work, and even started using this location solely as our production facility to limit potential crime. But I am at our breaking point.

If Rude Boy Cookies is going to survive, I have to move the business. As you can imagine, this is a huge undertaking logistically and financially. We absolutely love what we do — making delicious cookies and bringing joy and smiles to our customers. We love using our business to give back to this community that we are proud to call home. We love spreading our message of unity and equality for all. And we want to continue. We aren’t giving up. But we need your help to make this move.
