Save Sarah's Life

Donation protected

Hello everyone. My name is Michael. Better known online as Mikey Skates. This is my younger sister Sarah. On the Morning of Tuesday August 20th, Sarah attempted to commit suicide.

I'm going to be very honest and open about this, so trigger warning.

She's been dealing with chronic depression since she was 14. She is part of the LGBTQ+ community. She is a wonderful person who deserves to live her life to the fullest. And all her life has been very reserved about her depression and the way she feels and the things she deals with. She does not share it with anyone except her therapist she's had for a year now. She's now 24 years old.

She lied to us and pretended she was still working at her current job. She had been planning this for a long time. And early that morning at 5am, she left her apartment where she lives with our other sister pretending that she was going to work. She drove 20 miles outside of the town we live in. She left a goodbye note to all of us in her diary and left it in the car. Sarah went out on a dock at the end of a closed-down boardwalk and sat down on a blanket and cut her arm. She said while she was sitting there it was very quiet and she wanted someone to talk to. So she called the suicide hotline. What she didn't know is that the suicide hotline pinged her location to our local authorities (thank god). The location ping wasn't exact, so while she was sitting there the police started searching for her. All while we were completely unaware and still sleeping. A manager of the park who was part of the search found her sitting at the dock. He talked with her for half an hour and convinced her to get up. They took her to a nearby emergency room where she was cleaned up and taken to a 72-hour suicide watch facility. We barely got to see her at the hospital before they took her to the facility. We picked her up today August 23rd.
During her time in the 72-hour watch, we've been doing non-stop research into places that can help her find the tools and ways to climb out of her depression and suicidal thoughts. She is such a bright light in our world. We love her so much. And we want her to love herself too. She deserves to live her life and find happiness just like all of us do. We found a facility that she can go to for 30 days. The facility we found is perfect, but it’s extremely expensive. She has medical insurance that will help cover it. but we’re not exactly sure what will be covered. Our portion that we expect to have to personally pay for is anywhere between $20,000- $40,000 for the entire month. We don't know the exact number yet. Because this is for a chance for her to live her life and not leave this earth early, we will do whatever it takes and get her the best help we can. All of our family members and relatives are going to help pitch in. But even with all our relatives helping, its not enough. I love her. and ill do whatever it takes.

With her permission, I've started this GoFundMe. And anything that is raised, even if its just a few dollars, is going to go towards paying for her treatment. We want her to live her life. And we will do whatever it takes, put ourselves in any debt we can, gather up anything we can to try to make it happen. I will regularly update how things are going and exactly what is going on. Please help me save my sisters life. She deserves to live it.

Anything that you can contribute, even if its just a few dollars, is something that could change her life for the better.
She deserves to live and be happy.
Thank you.
