SEDR’s entire future is in jeopardy now that the kennels we rent have been sold to to developers and are being knocked down for houses to be built.
We have until September to find a new home for all of our dogs and desperately need to raise funds to buy premises and secure the future our true no kill rescue centre.
I started SEDR back in 2009 as a home run rescue with a view to taking in one dog at a time...which didn’t last long! Over 11 years we have re-homed well over 1000 dogs, taken in some of the absolute worst welfare cases, given sanctuary to those dogs who couldn’t cope in homes, helped with neutering and food for those in a financial struggle, helped foster dogs whilst families got back on their feet and operated on a never waivering no kill policy throughout.
We have been a last resort to so many dogs who have gone on to live happy and healthy lives under on wing.
We have seen the absolute worst in humanity in so many welfare cases and the absolute best thanks to all of the amazing supporters and volunteers.
I have given everything I have emotionally, mentally and physically to building SEDR and to the dogs and I would not change that for the world. I have also never taken a wage from running the rescue...nor would I want to! It is no secret that the dogs save me just as we save them.
Being a single mum throughout this journey hasn’t been without its challenges but I am blessed with an amazing daughter who is my rock and of whom I am so proud. And I am so proud of all we have done as a rescue which is why this news is just devastating.
All I have ever wanted to do is secure a safe and happy life for dogs and right now I am unable to do that for even just our 11 sanctuary dogs.
I am exhausted, overwhelmed and heartbroken at our current situation.
We have to carry on. For our sanctuary dogs, the Tegan’s, the Bugsy’s and all the other dogs who need our help that we haven’t even met yet.
Thank you to everyone for all of their support each and every day - please please help us to continue helping them
With this fundraising campaign, our ultimate aim is to buy a property of our own to secure SEDR's future forever. However, as time is not on our side, if we find a suitable, rented property in the interim, we will use the necessary funds raised in this campaign to rent such a property and maintain its upkeep until a suitable property to purchase is found. All raised funds raised via this campaign will be kept solely for the purpose of renting, buying and maintaining a property for SEDR, to allow it to continue to run as a rescue for some of the most vulnerable dogs in the UK.
